These women attempt to raise enough funds, but being illiterate and unaware of the world outside their community, they are faced with the decision to stay in the only world they know or take a chance and escape. The novel was published in 2018 and was named one of the best books of the year by authoritative publications such as The New York Times Book Review, National Public Radio, The Washington Post, Slate Magazine, and Publishers Weekly.
